Shrink Wrap Packaging Options Offer Clarity and Protection
Today’s shrink wrap films offer magnificent clarity, making this a popular choice for consumer products. Shrink wrap is frequently used to unify individual items into multi-packs or to unitize a product with a promotional item. Using a shrink wrap machine also keeps packages clean and discourages shoppers from opening them prior to purchase. Shrink wrap is an industrial packaging option as well. A common application is to protect gaskets by using a shrink wrapping machine to shrink wrap them to corrugated sheets.
There’s no limit to what you can shrink wrap.
Shrink wrapping originated on the East Coast when boat owners needed to protect their crafts during the winter. Now, people across the country are using shrink wrap for more than just standard packaging – it’s now being used for transport and protection from the elements.
Shrink wrap can even be used to wrap buildings! It can wrap roofs after hurricanes, earthquakes, tornadoes and other disasters. Shrink wrap can be used for environmental containments to facilitate safe removal of asbestos, lead and other hazards.
Shrink wrap can be of UV-protection varieties, and may also be made of fire retardant material.
Shrink wrap wards off dust and mildew from storage, which can cause damage to your materials.
You can see shrink wrap protection in virtually every market, too, such as: aerospace, aviation, construction, logistics, manufacturing, transportation, and petrochemical, just to name a few.
What is shrink wrap?
Shrink wrap is a material made up of polymer plastic film. When heat is applied, it shrinks tightly over whatever it is covering. The most commonly used shrink wrap is polyolefin, which is available in a variety of thicknesses, clarities, strengths and shrink ratios.
A shrink wrap machine continuously wraps up to 35 packets per minute, then is then heated for shrinking, to stabilize products, unitize them, keep them clean, and add to their tamper resistance.
